I am sure this place had a name, but it is not given one on any map. The remains of several ruined cottages stand amongst stone walls of gardens and fields below Pen Cor-maen, north of Nant y Moch reservoir in mid-Wales. It is bleak and inhospitable even in summer, the nearest habitation is several miles away. In the 19th century the inhabitants probably eeked out a living with a few animals, and working in the small lead mines that were in the hills around.
